***SAFE 04/12/16*** SHY SOCKS DOES NOT HAVE THE SHELTER COLD, YET THE ACC IS STILL PLANNING HER DEATH TOMORROW AT NOON!! SOCKS is a 4 year old tabby girl who is already spayed. She lived with a Yorkie whom she liked to swat at when he walked by. SOCKS is healthy except for a little mild gingivitis. She is obviously is upset at being abandoned, and she is not thriving in the shelter atmosphere (gee what a surprise) so the ACC has deemed her undadoptable and whisked her off to tonight’s list. SOCKS was originally seeking attention and petting when she came in but after realizing her owner wasn’t coming back for her they downgraded her behavior from EXPERIENCE to EXPNOCHILD – bingo – the excuse to list her! GIVE SOCKS A DEATH ROW PARDON TONIGHT AND CONTACT A RESCUE TO GET HER TO SAFETY. SHE IS A GOOD GIRL AND ONLY WANTS A LOVING HOME. EMAIL THE HELP DESK AT [email protected] FOR RESCUE INFO.

03/23/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/23/16 11:56 Socks is a 4 year old Spayed brown tabby. She was given to her owners as a gift and has been in owners care since 1 year old. She is being surrendered into our facility due to house soiling. There are no known health injuries or problems. She is described as being shy for a few minutes; when company comes over and it gets crowded she will hide and won’t come out. When playing with adults she is somewhat rough, when there is children around she doesn’t interact she will hide. Has experience with a female kitten and would swat when she was around. She lived with a Yorkie and was tolerant but would swat at her when she walk pass. There is no known history of her biting another person or animal. Socks has scratched on furniture, is aggressive towards other pets and hides in fear when the home is crowded. Has a history of having litter box accidents; a few times a month where she is both pooping and peeing outside of the litterbox. A vet hasn’t been seen for this problem; why this issue is occurring is unknown same behavior was done in previous owners care also. She will struggle and hiss when it’s time for a bath and has never had her nails trimmed. Enjoys having her coat brushed; but struggles when being placed in a carrier. She is described as being shy with a low activity level. Her favorite thing to do is lay on beds, when home she will be in the same room as owner. She likes to play with balls or eat her favorite treats Temptations. Mostly kept indoors she ate dry food; she doesn’t like wet cat food. She isn’t house trained; was provided a hooded box with pellet litter. Often she would scratch on the leather furniture. During intake all handling was allowed from counselor to be scanned (negative), and collared and photographed

04/09/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
A re-evaluation was done when Socks began showing some behavioral deterioration in the care center. She is currently not tolerating much handling, which is in contrast to the behavior she was showing at the time of intake and during her initial medical examination. Her owner-surrender profile describes a shy cat, and Socks does not seem to be thriving in this environment. Reaction to assessor: Socks does not come to front but looks at you relaxed and friendly When spoken quietly: Socks does not come to front but looks at you relaxed and friendly Reaction to door cage opening: Socks remains calm Reaction to touch: Socks allows petting for a limited time before becoming overstimulated, hissing and striking. Try picking cat up: Socks is not tolerant of this type of handling. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Due to the behavior we have seen in the care center we suggest an experienced owner without small children. ————————————————————————————————————————————————— As per previous owner, Socks is described as being shy for a few minutes. When company comes over she will hide and won’t come out. When playing with adults she is somewhat rough, when there is children around she doesn’t interact and she will hide. Socks has experience with a female kitten and would swat when she was around. She lived with a Yorkie and she would swat at her when she walk pass. Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Socks and at the time she was curled up at the back of the cage. Socks appeared nervous but allowed petting. Socks slowly comes out of her shell and rubs against hand. Reaction to assessor: Socks does not come to front but looks at you calm and relaxed When spoken quietly: Socks comes to the front of cage showing interest in the assessor Reaction to door cage opening: Socks remains soft and relaxed Reaction to touch: Socks solicits petting and attention Try picking cat up: Socks is tolerant of this type of handling Behavior Determination: Average At the time of the assessment Socks was displaying friendly behavior, did not come to the front of the kennel but interacts with the Assessor, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Socks is displaying behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
