07/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Short Tails was brought in with limited information on his behavioral tendencies in a home environment. His previous owner reports he has lived with four adults and two children. He has lived with lots of other cats and a dog. All of the cats got along well with each other and the dog mostly ignored the cats. The owner says he loves to play, enjoys petting, and uses a scratching post. Reaction to assessor: Short Tails was curled up by the back, and appears neutral. Reaction when softly spoken to: Short Tails looks at the assessor, and then averts his gaze. Reaction to cage door opening: Short Tails remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Short Tails remains in place for petting and closes his eyes. His ears tilt slightly sideways and his tail is wrapped closely to his body, but he leans in for petting after a few strokes. Reaction to being picked up: Short Tails is a bit tense, but remains calm when held. Behavior Determination: Experience Short Tails tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
