I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 11/27/2016 from NY 10451, owner surrender reason stated was MOVE2PRIVA.

11/27/16 13:50 basic information sam is a 4 year old brown tabby that was being surrendered due to owner moving and landlord did not allow pets. he is a unaltered male and owner got him from a previous owner. there are no injuries or health concerns owner is aware of. socializaton around strangers he is shy for a days and does not come out when they are in house. There were no children living in the house. behavior is unkown with children. He plays gentlle with adults. He has not lived with any cats or dogs so behavior is unkown. there is no bite history of a person or animal. behavior client stated he has some litterbox issues. he is relaxed in train rides. he has litterbox issues and is few times per week. He is spraying and has been going on for a year they have not seen a vet about this issue. Client has never given a bath or trim his nails. He isnt bothered with brushing his coat. he isnt bothered being picked up. He struggles and hisses getting into the carrier. For the new family to know client stated he is mellow, shy, and fearful. he has a low activity level. he likes stuffed toys and was kept mostly indoors. He eats dry food and has a uncovered litterbox using clumping litter. He uses a scratching post made out of cardboard. behavior upon intake counselor was unable to collar or remove from carrier cat was hissing.

11/30/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Former owner stated around strangers he is shy for days. Behavior is unkown with children but plays gentlle with adults. Also, stated he is mellow, shy, and fearful with a low activity level. Reaction to assessor: Sam looks tense, hiding in the cat den when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Sam remains in place, alert with eyes dilated. Reaction to touch: Sam does not allow the stroke then hisses and strikes at the assessor’s hand. Placement determination: NH ONLY Sam is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. He is stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
