*** SAFE 12/08/16 ***THIS GENTLE BOY’S WORLD HAS BEEN TURNED UPSIDE DOWN – HE WANTS TO TRUST – TO LOVE AGAIN – HE NEEDS A HERO NOW! A volunteer writes: Ever find yourself feeling out of sorts after a lot of changes in your life? I think that’s what’s going on with Remy Ma right now. Since arriving at the Care Center he’s been a very good boy, always displaying nice manners. Yet he lays low and seems shy, like he wants to trust the volunteers who are trying to lift his spirits but isn’t quite ready yet. He did nicely on his behavior exam, sniffing the assessor’s hand and showing no aggression at all. But the cat adoption room can be an overwhelming place, and I think he’s wondering why he’s here and what his future holds. If you know what it is to feel unsure and needing time to get your bearings, than consider adopting Remy Ma. He’s a gem of a cat who just wants to be understood.

11/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Remy Ma was brought in without information on her behavioral tendencies in her previous home. She lived in a home with many cats. She was fearful during her initial medical exam, but allowed the medical team to conduct most handling. Reaction to assessor: Remy Ma was lying down, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Remy Ma becomes tense and looks at the assessor, but her eyes soften after and she averts her gaze. Reaction to cage door opening: Remy Ma remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Remy Ma sniffs the assessor’s hand and remains immobile when pet gently on her head and body. She has a tense body, but her eyes soften a little and she appeared indifferent during the interaction. Behavior Determination: Experienced Remy Ma tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
