*** SAFE 12/10/17 *** VIDEO & NEW PHOTO! 1 yr old Pina Colada is part of a hoarding case. She came in nursing 3 two week old kittens although owner seemed to think she was not the mother. She is lactating but not producing a lot of milk and kittens are being given supplemental bottle feeding. (no photos on kittens) She was also flea infested. This girl will need a foster home for herself and kittens where she can get lots of food and TLC

Hello, my name is Pina Colada . My animal id is #11476. I am a spayed female calico cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 1 year 1 month old. – P
I came into the shelter as a aco impound on 02-Nov-2017, with the surrender reason stated as poor choice – too many animals already.
Pina Colada is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats. She will likely require in home care with a course of antibiotics. There are no behavior concerns for Pina Colada at this time.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 1-3 years based on dentition Microchip noted on Intake? Scanned negative History : Part of a hoarding case. Came in with three 2-week-old kittens but the owner thought the kittens were from a different mother. Subjective: Alert, relaxed. Severe flea infestation. Observed Behavior – Friendly – meows, allows all handling of herself and her kittens, rolls over on the exam table to let them crawl on her and snuggle. Objective BAR, BCS 4/9, MMs pale pink EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: Clean adult teeth PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Female, mammary glands well-developed and slightly engorged but no milk comes out when I try to express them MSI: SEVERE flea infestation – many fleas crawling all over abdomen. Fur on flanks and abdomen is barbered short. Ambulatory x 4, no masses noted. CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Normal externally Assessment: 1. FLEAS 2. Nursing 3 kittens – but not producing any milk Prognosis: Good Plan: Gave Capstar during exam, and treated with topical flea prevention. Feed LOTS of food. Supplemental bottle feeding to kittens until mother is making more milk. SURGERY: Temporary waiver due to lactation 1088
Hx: Came in with 3 kittens. 2 kittens died; one was not feeding well so was removed for bottle feeding. Pt reported to have a bulging butt on 11/6. S/O: Today pt is BAR, very friendly in her kennel, chirps, allows all handling Very short fur on hind legs and abdomen (barbering), skin has many small scabs/crusts. No erythema noted. A: 1. Alopecia and barbering R/O flea irritation 2. Reported bulging butt – R/O GI parasites and straining to defecate vs. other P: Give Panacur x5 days. 1088
S/O -QAR, much less interactive today than normal -sneezing, nasal congestion -OU: mild blepharospasm, increased epiphora -eupnic -diffusely thin hair coat along dorsum and hind limbs with resolving dermatitis A URI Dermatitis-suspect flea allergy; improving P move to isolation doxycycline 0.8 ml PO SID x 10 days cerenia 0.4 ml SQ SID x 2 days LRS 100 ml SQ SID x 3 days

KNOWN HISTORY:: Pina Colada was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on their behavior history or tendencies in a home environment.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior – Friendly – meows, allows all handling of herself and her kittens, rolls over on the exam table to let them crawl on her and snuggle.
Cage Condition:: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:: Pina Colada was meowing by the front, soliciting attention and reaching out with her paws.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Pina Colada continues to meow and starts to purr and knead on her blanket.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Pina Colada remains soft and relaxed and stops meowing.
Reaction to touch:: Pina Colada head-butts, continues to purr, and leans in for more petting. She kneads on the assessor and continues to rub for more attention.
Reaction to being picked up:: Pina Colada is tense during pick up, but remains calm when held.
