ENRICHMENT NOTES:
12/19/17
Lying in back of kennel with a tense body, head turned to face the wall. She tolerates petting along her head and body while shifting her weight and flattening her ears. Her tail pulls around herself tighter and she avoids eye contact – stares straight ahead at the wall. Very nervous, needs more time to adjust. Not interested in treats today.
12/21/17
Pressed up against the back wall of the kennel, watching the assessor with wide eyes. Ears rotate and she lip licks when the assessor tried coaxing her forward. Tenses up and slowly turns her head away when I approached. She closes her eyes, appears uncomfortable and remains completely immobile but tolerates gentle petting on her head and along her body.
01/02/18
Lying in bed with a flat, tense body, head lowered onto kennel floor. She tolerates petting along her head and body initially, and then begins to lean in very gently, head remaining low. Tense today, may be uncomfortable due to URI.
01/03/18
Lying in bed with a flat, tense body. She tilts her ears as the cage door opens and avoids eye contact. She warms up once touched and begins to lean in for petting. Allows touch along her head and body while rolling over onto her side and purring. Kneads kennel floor. Very sweet, gains confidence with each pet along her body. Warming up!
01/07/18
Lying in back of kennel with a low, tense body, tail curled around feet. She raises her head when spoken to and shifts her weight. Warms up as soon as she’s touched – raises her rear and tail into the air as my hand passes along her back. She allows further petting along her head and body while scooting forward and nudging my hand. After a couple of minutes she stands up and raises her tail. Steps forward to smell my nose and head-butts my glasses. Kneading and purring. Focused on environment and skittish when someone new enters the room or when she hears a sudden noise. Super sweet once approached – did well today!
01/08/18
Lying on top of kuranda bed with a low, tense body. Tail is wrapped around feet and head is lowered onto kuranda bed. She lifts her head as I reach towards her and greets my hand with a gentle head-butt. Allows petting along her head and body while leaning in and rolling over onto her side. Scoots forward and begins to purr. She jumps down off of her bed for treats and allows further petting while kneading the kennel floor and purring with tail raised. Makes eye contact with soft eyes. Super sweet, appreciates all petting and attention once touched. Did well today.
01/11/18
She was a bit timid, but warms up with petting. Curled up and tense at first. She slow blinks and curls up when approached, then slowly starts to relax when pet along her body. She rolls around, gives head butts and appreciates attention. Very food motivated, but I couldn’t get her to come forward. Doing well!
