MOON – A1086509
Safe - 8-29-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
***SAFE 08/29/16*** MOON and BEAM are two young guys who wound up at the ACC as strays, and who have been scheduled for death tomorrow. Why? Well, because the ACC was too busy, or too inept, or too short-staffed, or too SOMETHING to do what it would have taken, to have found homes for them. These 4-month-old kittens were found in someone’s yard and have been a little stressed at the shelter, going by their shelter biographies. They each earned an EXPNOCHILD rating, they may have some eye issues, and they needed some time and TLC in order to find foster/adopters. The ONE city agency who has the contract to proved that to them, DIDN’T, and decided it makes more sense for those kittens to be killed instead. Remember, a FOSTER or ADOPTER can stop that senseless execution! Advocate widely for MOON and BEAM tonight!

Moon was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Moon was hiding inside his feral den. Reaction when softly spoken to: Moon stress meows from inside the den but doesn’t come out. Reaction to cage door opening: Moon remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Moon arches his back and tolerates petting with a slow approach. He closes his eyes when pet and looks around trying to escape. Reaction to being picked up: Moon is tense when held and tries to jump away immediately. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Moon tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his or her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
