JACK – A1079885
Gone - 7-9-2016 Manhattan
***GONE 07/09/16*** Sweet JACK looks like he’s had a hard life living out on the street! This black gentle 12 year old neutered male was brought into the shelter as a stray. Maybe he was someone’s pet at some point, but was abandoned. Poor guy! He has a cold and some spots where he has fur missing, but his prognosis is good with some TLC and medicine. Despite the fact that he’s at a strange shelter and not feeling so hot, GENTLE JACK shows that he’d make a wonderful pet! He’s calm and relaxed with visitors and gives eye blinks to show he appreciates the attention! He will need a little time to warm up to his new home, and he’d be SO THRILLED to have a home, instead of dying tomorrow by lethal injection! JACK is a survivor and he has quite a story to tell! Open your heart to this teddy-bear of a cat and save JACK’S life today!!!

07/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jack was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He appeared friendly upon intake and allowed all handling during his initial medical exam. Please note that he is being treated for an upper respiratory infection at the time of the behavior assessment. This condition may affect some of the behaviors shown during evaluation. Reaction to assessor: Jack was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Jack looks at the assessor and blinks. Reaction to cage door opening: Jack remains motionless, but becomes alert. Reaction to touch: Jack hisses initially and tucks his paws underneath his body. He sniffs the assessor’s hand, but focuses on it. He allows gentle petting, but twitches and lip licks. He looks very uncomfortable during the interaction. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Jack tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
