***SAFE 11/08/17*** BEGINNER SWEETHEART GREY WAS GOOD WITH KIDS AND DOGS AND WOULD MAKE A WONDERFUL FAMILY PET!! GREY is a 6 yr old neutered boy whose owner dumped for litterbox issues instead of taking his cat to the vet to see if anything was wrong. GREY is a calm and relaxed kitty who solicits attention and is sweet and affectionate. GREY also purrs very loudly!! PLEASE RESERVE THIS SUPER CAT BY NOON!

Hello, my name is Grey . My animal id is #11117. I am a desexed male white cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 6 years 1 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 29-Oct-2017, with the surrender reason stated as animal health – other.
Grey is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats. Grey score and average on his behavior assessment.

Easily handleable. Did well for all medical handling and procedures Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – no Objective P = wnl R = eupneic BCS 7/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears have black waxy debris au, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: adult dentition with moderate dental disease, no oral lesions noted PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated, bladder small and soft U/G: MN MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, wet hair coat CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: Apparently healthy Overweight Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC Cleaned ears Rec weight loss Close monitoring of urinary habits Prognosis: Excellent SURGERY: neutered

Upon intake Grey was very friendly he was loudly purring and head butting at the counselor hand. he allowed the counselor to pet him and hold him.

Basic Information:: Grey is an 6 year old Altered male, he came to his home for a neighbor when he was 2 months old , and is being surrendered due to house-soiling issues.
If yes, Please elaborate:: Grey has been having litter box issues for at least 3 weeks. He has been defecating and urinating daily outside of the litter box.

How is this cat around strangers?: Around strangers Grey is very friendly and outgoing he loves people an loves attention.
How is this cat around children?: Grey has been around various children and is relaxed and affectionate around the children.
How is this cat around other cats?: He has never been around other cats
How is this cat around dogs?: He has Lived with a large dog and is respectful and gentle with the dog. Grey likes to chase the dog around and vice versa.
Behavior Notes: Grey likes to scratch on the couch and has a scratching post made of carpet and wood. During car rides Grey meows. Grey struggles during a bath and has to be wrapped in bedding so to get his nails trimmed. Grey loves to be brushed and likes to be picked up and held.

For a New Family to Know: Grey was described as friendly, affectionate, playful and loves the vacuum. When the family is home Grey likes to follow them around the home. Grey is 1/3 cup of Purina dry food 2-3 times and day. Grey loves tuna fish as a treat. Grey has a hooded box with cat Pride litter.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Tolerated handling but growled with excessive restraint. Easily handle able.
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 10/30/17 Lying in front of kennel with a relaxed body as I approach. He rolls over onto his side when spoken to and makes eye contact with soft eyes. Allows petting along his head and body while leaning in and rolling over.
Cage Condition:: Cage is slightly re-arranged
Reaction to assessor:: Grey was relaxed and lying down on top his kuranda bed.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Grey hops down from the kuranda bed and comes forward to greet the assessor.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Grey is calm and relaxed.
Reaction to touch:: Grey sniffs the assessor’s hand, gives head butts and allows petting all over. His tail quivers and he vocalizes throughout the interaction.
Reaction to being picked up:: Grey was calm, relaxed and allows all handling.

Potential challenges comments:: Grey’s previous owners report that he/she was eliminating (urinating and defecating) outside the litter box for 3 weeks. We are unaware of what, if any, modifications steps were taken to try and address this behavior in the home, so we cannot be sure what the trigger may have been or if this behavior may continue in a future home. However, we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litter box should this behavior continue in a home environment.
