04/03/17 11:02 BASIC INFO Goodness A1107756 is an 11 month old dsh kitten. He is being surrendered to the shelter because he scratches on household items. Goodness was a gift from family 9 months ago. Good ness does not have any apparent health concerns. SOCIALIZATION Goodness is friendly with strangers and gives you head buuts. He has not lived with children. Good ness plays gentle with adults. Good ness has not lived with other animals, but he gets along with cats. Goodness has never bitten or scratched anyone. BEHAVIOR Goodness has 2 behavior issues. One, he likes to scratch on furniture because he did not have a scratching post. Two, he likes to escape the home, run and play from yard to yard and then come home when tired. Goodness rode quietly in a car. Good ness is not bothered if you pick him up, place him in a carrier or disturb him while sleeping. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Goodness is best described as friendly, affectionate and playful. He has a high activity level. He will eat, run outside if possible, and come back meowing at the door to be let back in. When home, he follows you around. He enjoys playing with balls, strings and other cat toys. Goodness is mostly an indoor cat but does escape. Goodness eats Purina kitten chow. He uses a regular litter box with Fresh Step litter. Goodness uses furniture to scratch on. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Goodness allowed all handling, collaring and photos.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – Striking, biting, afraid ENRICHMENT NOTES: 4/4/17 At the front, eyes dilated, alert. Seems conflicted. Occasional grumbling and yowling. Alternated between rubbing against the bars, and hissing and swatting between them. Ate offered treats, played with catnip pillow. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Goodness looks neutral, sitting upright by the front when approached by the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Goodness retreats to the back, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Goodness sniffs the assessor’s hand then leans into the pets. He seems unsure with his surroundings and began to slowly swat with no claws then randomly hiss. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Lively VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Social, Bold, Independent RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced, adult home only Goodness tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to his new home and family at his own pace.
