05/07/17 12:52 Chaz is a DSH who was found outside and brought into the finders home. He was nervous but allowed the finder to pick him up and carry to her home. He was nervous around people initially but after a couple of hours he warms up to people. There were no children in the home but there was another cat and he would hiss and swat if the cat was ever in the vacinity. He scratched on furniture and used the uncovered litter box well. During his intake he gave a low gutteral meow and would allow handling but tries to flee and the more he is restrained the harder he attempts to flee and his struggles grew with avidity. He allowed all handling until his struggle escalated too much.

05/10/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Curious, Independent ENRICHMENT NOTES: 5/8/17- Sitting in litter box, eyes a little dilated. Lay down when door opened. Allowed all pets, no real response. Showed no interest in socializing, continued to look around, ignored me. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Garfield looks tense, lying down on his cage bedding when approached. Reaction to cage door opening: Garfield began to growl and hiss. Reaction to touch: Garfield slowly sniffs the assessor’s hand, but while he was hissing he allowed a brief touch on the head. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Garfield may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
