SAFE 5/11/18 **RINGWORM POSITIVE** ELLY is a 5 month old kitten brought in by police. She has skin lesions on her head and is limping. She tested positive for ringworm and may have a soft tissue injury of her left hind leg or fractured toes. Needs a home where she can get some TLC and follow up care.

Observed Behavior -friendly and affectionate, allows all handling but resists restraint and vocalized during blood draw for CT

Evidence of Trauma seen -weight bearing LH lameness
Objective
BCS 5/9
EENT: Eyes clear, AU-dark granular discharge, pruritic; no nasal or ocular discharge noted
Oral Exam:mm pk, moist; CRT <2 sec; adult canines present
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: eupnic, clear lung sounds, no murmurs or arrhythmias
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: female
MSI:
-LH: partial weight bearing lameness; good ROM at hip and stifle with no discomfort; painful on palpation over metatarsals
-multiple, circular, alopecic lesions along head and ear pinna; few smaller lesions along flank; one lesion on top of head was faint positive on wood’s lamp
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal:grossly normal
Assessment
1. Ringworm, suspected
2. LH lameness, r/o fx of metatarsals vs soft tissue injury vs other
3. Ear mites
Prognosis:good
Plan:
-DTM culture
-radiographs of LH
-simbadol 0.3 ml SQ SID x 3 days
-ivermectin 0.08 ml SQ now, repeat in 2 weeks
-itrafungol 10 mg/ml:1.6 ml PO SID X 21 days
-lime sulfur dips twice weekly
SURGERY:permanent waiver due to ringworm
