09/05/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/05/17 14:39 Basic Information: Cookie is a 7 year old brown tabby roughly 7 years old. She’s was purchased from a pet store when she was about 3 months old. Her owner’s cannot keep her due to the children’s new allergies in the home and they’re moving. She last went to the vet a year ago but has no known health problems. Socialization: Around strangers Cookie is fearful and will hide. She lived with children ages two and up and was somewhat rough but respectful around them. It’s unknown how she reacts with other cats and she’s fearful around dogs. Behavior: Cookie will meow and cry in the car. She used to get a bath every two weeks and struggles a bit while meowing but for the most part isn’t bothered. She enjoys being brushed and isn’t bothered when being picked up and held. For a New Family to Know: Cookie is friendly and shy with a medium activity level. She loves to play with wand toys and stuffed mice around the home. Se’s only been an indoor cat. She eats dry food and has a hooded litter box with crystal litter. She doesn’t have a scratching post and will scratch at the couch in the home. Behavior During Intake: She allowed me to pet her briefly in the kennel then a moment later started hissing and spitting when I tried getting her out of the kennel. I needed assistance with gloves on and eventually had to be placed in a kennel with a towel over her. She resisted with the towel over her and made numerous moans and meows. I was unable to collar her or photograph her outside of the kennel.

Continued hissing and growling when door opened. Spat and struck interior den wall when offered treats. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Cookie remains neutral, lying down by the front of the cage during the approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Cookie seems curious and looks to the front with soft eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Cookie meows attention in place, ears erect and forward. Reaction to touch: Cookie extends her meows while accepting the touch then stands with tail up and began to randomly meow. She solicits attention as she focuses on sudden noises then grumbles in that direction, she after snaps out of it and back into seeking attention. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Cookie tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to her new home and family at her own pace.
