10/20/16 19:47 Basic information: Cinnamon is a 2 yr. old female domestic short hair mix. The owner surrendered Cinnamon because she is destructive toward furniture. Cinnamon has an amputated hind back leg which was treated by a vet over a year ago. Socialization: The owner states that around strangers Cinnamon is shy but outgoing. Cinnamon has lived with children between the ages of 7 and 10 years old however the children do not like to interact with Cinnamon because she tends to sracth people when she is upset. Cinnamon has never bitten anyone. Behavior: Cinnamon has never been bathed, had her nails trimmed. She does not mind having her coat brushed but hates being picked up and being placed in a cat carrier (she will struggle and swat the person). For a new family to know: The owner describes Cinnamon shy cat with a medium activity level. Cinnamon has played with rubber ball and string cat toys; she lives mostly indoors and sleeps anywhere in the house that he wants. In the home Cinnamon will follow the owner around and prefers to stay in same room as the owner. Cinnamon eats kibbles and bits brand dry cat food and is open feed. She is litter box trained and uses an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. Cinnamon has never been given a scratching post so the owner does not know if she will use it or not. Behavior during intake: During intake Cinnamon was very tense with stiff body, she allowed us to scan (-) put on collar, photographed and placed in cat kennel.

10/23/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE

Cinnamon’s previous owner reports she is shy, but can also be outgoing with strangers. She has lived with children, but the children do not like to interact with her because she tends to scratch whenever she was upset. She does not mind having her coat brushed, but dislikes being picked up and placed into a carrier (she will struggle and swat the person). She was described as a shy cat with a medium activity level. She plays with rubber balls and strings. She will follow the owner around at home and prefers to stay in the same room as them. Reaction to assessor: Cinnamon was calm, relaxed, and friendly upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Cinnamon meows, approaches the front, and leans on the cage door. Reaction to cage door opening: Cinnamon remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Cinnamon head-butts, begins to purr, and leans in for petting. She is very affectionate throughout the interaction. Reaction to being picked up: Cinnamon becomes tense and lowers her body to avoid being picked up. She struggles when picked up and leaps back into her kennel, but will continue to allow gentle petting afterwards. Behavior Determination: Average Cinnamon interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, tolerates all petting, but seems to dislike being picked up and held. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for cat parents with an average amount of experience.
