07/06/17 13:15 Basic information Cassidy is a 7 year old neutered white and black DSH with no known medical conditions. Owner has had Cassidy for 4 years and is surrendering because they are moving. Socialization and behavior Cassidy has not lived with any children but has socialized with a baby the age of 1. Around the baby Cassidy is calm and sniffs him. Around strangers Cassidy is fearful and will hide. Cassidy plays exuberantly with adults and likes to batt at their feet but doesn’t use his nails. Cassidy has not lived with cats or dogs an behavior is not known for interacting with them. Cassidy does not have a bite or scratch history. Cassidy has not been given a bathe or had his nails trimmed by owners before. Cassidy loves being brushed. Cassidy wasn’t bothered when being placed in a carrier. During car rides he meows a little. Cassidy doesn’t like being picked up and held and will jump out of your arms right away. For the new family to know Cassidy was described as affectionate and independent with a low activity level. When home with Cassidy he likes to mostly be off in his favorite spots but will sometimes follow the owner around. Cassidy likes staying on window sills or hiding in small spaces. Cassidy likes playing with bottle caps. Cassidy eats meowmix dry food and usually has the bowl left out for him. Cassidy is litter box trained and uses a hooded litter box with Fresh step clumping litter. Cassidy did not have a scratching post at home and would scratch on the material couch once in a while. When its time for bed Cassidy sleeps under the bed. Behavior during intake Cassidy was quiet during intake. He allowed to be scanned and collared but was a little tense. Cassidy allowed all handling with no problem but remained shy.

KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: Adults and has been around a 1 year old child Behavior toward strangers: Fearful and will hide Behavior toward children: Sniffs the baby, calm Behavior toward cats or dogs: Unknown Bite or Scratch history: None Litter box training: Yes, uses a hooded litter box with clumping litter Energy level/descriptors: Cassidy was described as affectionate and independent with a low activity level. Other notes: Cassidy plays exuberantly with adults and likes to batt at their feet but doesn’t use his nails. When home with Cassidy he likes to mostly be off in his favorite spots but will sometimes follow the owner around. Cassidy likes staying on window sills or hiding in small spaces. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – Slightly tense, does not come to front of cage, but allows all handling ENRICHMENT NOTES: 07/09/17 Sitting crouched in back of kennel with ears tilted, body very tense as he looks around the room. Makes eye contact when spoken to and he stiffens. He backs away from my hand as I open the kennel door, whiskers pulled back, and ignores the treat I place by him. Ears flatten further as he tolerates petting along his head. Needs more time to adjust. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Cassidy was lying down by the back, alert. Reaction when softly spoken to: Cassidy’s eyes soften, but his ears tilt sideways and his breathing becomes rapid. Reaction to cage door opening: Cassidy remains motionless, but is alert. Reaction to touch: Cassidy was hesitant, but remains immobile and allows the assessor to pet him gently on his head and body. He closes his eyes when pet on his head, but is watchful of the assessor’s hand when stroked along his body. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Timid, Sweet RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parent – Cassidy tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may need time to warm up to his new home and family. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
