10/31/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Baby was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. The counselor was able to lift her up from her carrier and place her onto the counter during intake. She was receptive to petting and allowed the counselor to handle her. The medical team reports she was tense and nervous during her initial medical exam, but she allowed handling to be conducted. Reaction to assessor: Baby was lying down, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Baby does not come to the front, but blinks softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Baby becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Baby meows softly, but sniffs the assessor’s hand. She was hesitant of touch and flinches slightly, but she looks at the assessor and allows gentle petting on her head and body. She looks at the assessor with soft eyes, but seems unsure. Behavior Determination: Experienced Baby tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
