Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Arugula was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Arugula was hiding in his feral den at the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Arugula hisses from within the den but doesn’t come out. Reaction to cage door opening: Arugula remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Arugula hisses at the assessor with ears bent flat and an arched back and quickly charges forward. He tries to flee the kennel the swats at the assessor through the kennel bars. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Arugula is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
