Gone - 9-10-2016 Manhattan
***GONE 09/10/16 *** A IS FOR ABANDONED…..This sad quintet came from a group of twelve found outside wet and dirty with conjuctivitis and uri’s …..they are 4-6 month old kittens and could certainly use a warm, loving environment and some good home cooked meals…..As one would expect, they are a bit tentative but will warm up when given time and patience….EVEN IF YOU CAN HELP JUST ONE, NOW’S THE TIME!! The ACC will have no problem dispatching them tomorrow without a foster or adopter…..If you need assistance, email us at [email protected]

09/04/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Alistair was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. His finder was able to catch him and reports he has been living in the neighborhood with many other cats. He was tense around people and appeared ill. He was also nervous during his initial medical exam, but allowed handling to be conducted. Reaction to assessor: Alistair becomes alert and retreats to the back when approached. Reaction when softly spoken to: Alistair blinks softly at the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Alistair remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Alistair was hesitant of touch, but sniffs the assessor’s hand. He allows gentle petting on his head and body and leans in slightly, but lip licks and appeared unsure when petting stops. Reaction to being picked up: Alistair is tense during pick up, but remains calm when held. Behavior Determination: Experience Alistair tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. 9/9 update: Alistair does not appear to be thriving in the busy adoptions room. When approached today his pupils were dilated and he was hissing, ears flat. He shrinks away from contact. It is in his best interest to move out of the shelter and into a stable home environment quickly.
