*** GONE 09/10/16 *** A IS FOR ABANDONED…..This sad quintet came from a group of twelve found outside wet and dirty with conjuctivitis and uri’s …..they are 4-6 month old kittens and could certainly use a warm, loving environment and some good home cooked meals…..As one would expect, they are a bit tentative but will warm up when given time and patience….EVEN IF YOU CAN HELP JUST ONE, NOW’S THE TIME!! The ACC will have no problem dispatching them tomorrow without a foster or adopter…..If you need assistance, email us at [email protected]

09/04/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Aloha was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Her finder was able to catch her and reports she has been living in the neighborhood with many other cats. She was tense around people and appeared ill. She was also nervous during her initial medical exam, but allowed handling to be conducted. Reaction to assessor: Aloha remains calm and relaxed by the back. Reaction when softly spoken to: Aloha blinks softly at the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Aloha remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Aloha was hesitant of touch, but sniffs the assessor’s hand. She allows gentle petting on her head and body and leans in slightly, but lip licks and appeared unsure when petting stops. Reaction to being picked up: Aloha is tense during pick up, but remains calm when held. Behavior Determination: Experience Aloha tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. 9/9 update: Aloha does not appear to be thriving in the busy adoptions room. When approached today her pupils were dilated, ears flat, hiding in the back of the cage, hissing. It is in her best interest to move out of the shelter and into a stable home environment quickly.
