ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Independent, Curious KNOWN HISTORY: Zoey was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. During intake, Zoey did not allow handling. She had a relaxed body with constricted pupils. She was purring inside the carrier. She swatted at the admissions counselor when he attempted to collar her. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior hissing, biting, examination in capture net ENRICHMENT NOTES: 8/29/17 Resting on bedding in main compartment. Woke on approach, eyes fully dilated, extremely stiff posture. Started hissing and growling when spoken to. Continued hissing and growling when door opened. Repeatedly tapped assess-a-hand without claws. Ate treats after door closed. 8/30/17 Extremely agitated today. In cubby, wide-eyed, tense posture. Started hissing and growling on approach. Flattened ears and charged front when shown hands. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Zoey remains tense, hiding in the cat den during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Zoey began to stress meow, alert with eyes dilated, ears erect and forward. Reaction to touch: Zoey hisses and strikes at the assessor’s hand, avoiding the interaction. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Zoey is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home.
