No – placed during intake exam History : Abdomen has been increasing in size for last 3 months, lethargic for last two months. Good appetite, normal urine/feces habits Subjective: Shrinks to the back corner of the cage, VERY tense. Moves away from my hand when I reach out towards pt. Scruffed for brief exam – tense for entire exam, jumped off table and hid in corner at one point. Objective BCS 5/9, MMs pink EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: Did not examine H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Severely distended, no discrete masses palpated. U/G: Female, purulent vaginal discharge, small nipples with no mammary discharge MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Sedated with 0.3 ml buprenorphine 0.3 mg/ml IM and 0.05 ml Dexdomitor IM – pt not sedate so additional 0.05 ml Dexdomitor was given IM. Abd rads – large fluid-filled uterus. VD view shows the left horn severely distended and fluid-filled, with the small intestines all pushed to the right side of the abdomen. Pyometra – pre sx exam. IVC placed yesterday and started on ampicillin, baytril, simbadol.
S/O) QARH. MM pk, crt 2.
Eyes clr, NND. No c/s.
MSI: IGF. IVC LFL – looks good and patent.
CV: HR= 200, nsr, nm.
L: clr bilat and eup.
Abd: distended
A) Pyometra.
P) CBC/ Chem: Marked leukocytosis/ neutrophila. No anemia. Chem WNL.
Ok for sx.
Give baytril 22.7 mg IV slow prior to sx instead of PO.
Continue w abs and pain meds post op. Cont IV fluids rate 10 ml/ hr.

S: eating am diet, hisses and swats when tried to examine, escaped towel restraint, limited exam

Int: spay incision CDI, non painful on plapation

CV: NMA, s&s pulses, pink moist mm
Resp: clear lungs, eupnic
Abd: SNP, gently palpated abdomen, abd wall incision palpably intact

Hunched in place on bedding, eyes dilated, a little stiff. Allowed pets, no response at all.
EVALUATION:
Cage Condition: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor: Zody looks at the assessor and remains calm with her ears slightly tilted.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Zody looks at the assessor, and then lowers her gaze and blinks.
Reaction to cage door opening: Zody becomes alert, but remains in place.
Reaction to touch: Zody sniffs the assessor’s hand and pulls her whiskers back. She remains in place and allows gentle petting on her head, but twitches when touched along her body and starts to grumble. She allows more petting on her head with a slow approach, but appeared tense and unsure.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Cannot assess
VOCAL: Quiet

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:

– Experienced cat parent – Zody tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.

BASIC INFO
Zody A1109866 is a 10 year old dsh. she is being surrendered to the shelter because she appears to have medical condition and the owner’s cannot afford to properly care for her. Zody has been in the family since she was 1 month old. she was purchased at a pet store. Zody has never been to a veterinarian.
SOCIALIZATION
Zody is shy when strangers come into the home and hides. She has lived with a 4 year old and she was affectionate with the child. Zody plays exhuberantly with children and adults. Zody lived with another cat for 3 months. Zody stood away from the other cat because the other cat would try to fight with Zody. Zody has scratched previously, a few years ago.
BEHAVIOR
Zody does not have behavior issues. She allows you to brush her coat, pick her up and hold her or place her in a carrier. Zody is not bothered if disturbed out of her sleep.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW
Zody is best decribed as friendly. ffectionate and playful and very independent. She has a low activity level. A unque thing about Zody is that she is very affectionate. When homer, she follows you around. She enjoys playing with the ring from the milk gallon top and boxes. She has been kept mostly indoors. Zody sleeps under the bed. Zody was fed Purina cat chow dry food. Zody uses a regular l;itter box with Fresh Step litter. Zody scratches on a cqarpet covered cat condo.
BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE
Zody walked around the backdrop for photos. She allowed all handling, collaring and photos.
