11/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ziraldo’s previous owner reports he is shy around strangers and hides whenever they visit the home. He has not been exposed to children, but played gently with the adults he lived with. He has lived with other cats and small breed dogs, getting along with all of them. He is tolerant of having his coat brushed, but may give a struggle when taking him out of a carrier. He was described as a mellow and shy cat, with a medium activity level. He tends to follow the owner around at home and enjoys playing with mice toys and balls. Reaction to assessor: Ziraldo was lying down, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Ziraldo looks at the assessor, and then lowers his gaze and blinks. Reaction to cage door opening: Ziraldo becomes alert, but remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Ziraldo sniffs the assessor’s hand, but was hesitant of touch. He lowers his body and his ears tilt sideways, but he allows gentle petting on his head and body. He curls his body up during the interaction and squints his eyes. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Ziraldo tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
