His favorite things are snuggling and having his coat brushed. You pick him up and he will rub himself against you, settling in your arms so comfortably that he might even fall asleep. Zazu even has a history of getting along well with children and dogs, as he is a curious cat that loves to play as well. Don’t pass this kitty up. He’s exceptional! A volunteer writes: Zazu is a magnificent young man who will softly chirp at you. He is very easy to handle, and he purrs quite easily and loves to be petted. He has been around a dog before and was not bothered by the dog. He has never been around other cats, however. He does not like having his coat brushed and will try to swat and nip the owner. Zazu doesn’t mind when someone picks him up, holds him, or disturbs him while sleeping. He was best described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, independent, and quiet with a low-medium activity level. He would usually follow the owner around at home, stay in the same room, and sit on their lap depending on his mood. Please note that this cat was diagnosed for a medical condition at the time of evaluation. It is difficult to determine at this time how the medical condition may be affecting the behavior. In spite of his condition, this cat remains social and affectionate. Reaction to assessor: Zazu was calm, relaxed, and friendly upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Zazu looks at the assessor, gets up, and rubs against the cage door. Reaction to cage door opening: Zazu greets the assessor by the opening. Reaction to touch: Zazu head-butts, leans in for petting, and begins to purr. He rubs his cheeks against the assessor and is very affectionate throughout the interaction. Reaction to being picked up: Zazu remains calm and purrs when held. Zazu’s previous owner reports he would urinate in the litter box, but would defecate on her basement floor. We are unaware of what, if any, modifications steps were taken to try and address this behavior in the home, so we cannot be sure what the trigger may have been or if this behavior may continue in a future home. However, we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litter box should this behavior continue in a home environment. Behavior Determination: Average Zazu interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
