09/15/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Zane came into the care center as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He has been timid and has avoided interaction since intake, although he has not aggressed. During his behavior evaluation, Zane allowed interaction but leaned away from touch. Reaction to assessor: Zane is at the back of his cage, eyes wide. Reaction to cage door opening: Remains in place, body tense. Reaction to touch: Zane leans away from the assessor’s hand, but allows gentle touch on the head and body. Placement determination: Experience Zane tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be undersocialized and may have not yet learned to trust humans entirely. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents who will allow him to warm up to his new home and new family at his own pace, and who will provide positive experiences to build his confidence.
