04/12/17 18:06 Basic information: Yoshi is a 3 yr. old male domestic short hair mix. The owner surrendered Yoshi because of cost Yoshi no health problems and the owner has not taken him to a vet. Socialization: The owner states that around strangers Yoshi is friendly and outgoing. Yoshi has not lived with children. Yoshi has lived with another cat and the two got along very. Yoshi has never bitten or scratched anyone. Behavior: Yoshi has never been bathed, had his nails trimmed. He does not mind having his coat brushed but hates being picked up and being placed in a cat carrier (he will struggle and swat the person). For a new family to know: The owner describes Yoshi shy and fearful cat with a medium activity level. Yoshi has played with rubber ball and string cat toys; he lives mostly indoors and sleeps anywhere in the house that he wants. In the home Yoshi will follow the owner around and prefers to stay in same room as the owner. Yoshi eats kibbles and bits brand dry cat food and is open feed. He is litter box trained and uses an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. Yoshi has never been given a scratching post so the owner does not know if he will use it or not. Behavior during intake: During intake Yoshi was very tense with stiff body, he allowed us to scan (-) put on collar, photographed and placed in cat kennel.

KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: an adult and a cat Behavior toward strangers: friendly and outgoing Behavior toward children: unknown Behavior toward cats: got along with the other cat Behavior toward dogs: unknown Bite or Scratch history: none Litter box training: yes Energy level/descriptors: medium MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Behavior: vocalizing and swatting at cage door before appoach EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Yoshi looked neutral, lying down on his cage bedding. Reaction when softly spoken to: Yoshi yowled in place when spoken softly too. Reaction to cage door opening: Yoshi became tense, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Yoshi slowly leaned into the touch, but escaladed when touched along the back and began to randomly grumble and hiss. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Curious, Skittish BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Yoshi may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
