Behavior:
Yoshi came into the care center as a stray so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Yoshi was timid and hesitant to interact at intake (trying to flee) and during his initial medical examination. With our Enrichment Facilitator Yoshi was curious and approached slowly, allowing petting. At the time of his behavior evaluation Yoshi was hesitant to interact but allowed petting on the head and body.
Reaction to assessor: Yoshi is resting at the back of his cage when approached.
Reaction to cage door opening: Remains in place.
Reaction to touch: Yoshi retreats slightly when the assessor extends her arm. He allows petting on the head and body though he is wary of interacting and does not fully relax, solicit attention, or approach the assessor during the interaction.
Placement determination: Experienced home without children
Scooby tolerates some attention and petting but appears to be fearful and stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He will likely need time to warm up to his or her new home.
Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
Enrichment:

Curious, comes forward. Allows petting. Eyes wide. Inches forward. Slow blinks.
