SAFE 10/10/17 Yona is a male kitten who was surrender along with his siblings Kaine and Emil due to their previous owner not being able to afford their care and already having too many cats in the home.

OWNER PROFILE:

Basic Information:

Yonah is a male kitten who was surrender along with his siblings Kaine and Emil due to their previous owner not being able to afford their care and already having too many cats in the home.

Socialization:

Around strangers Yonah is shy for a few minutes and plays gently. Yonah has lived with cats of various ages and is relaxed and friendly towards them. Yonah has never been around dogs or children so it is unknown how he will react towards them.

 

Behavior:

Yonah has never bitten/ scratched another person/animal and has not shown any concerning behavior while at home. Yonah has never been in a car so it is unknown how he will react to that event. Yonah enjoys being given a bath, having his nails trimmed, being brushed, and picked up/held. Yonah is not bothered by being placed in a carrier or disturbed while resting/sleeping.

 

For a New Family to Know:

Yonah is described as friendly, playful and shy with a medium activity level. When at home Yonah will follow around his owner and was kept indoors only, Yonah was fed wet food and is litter box trained. Kaine.

 

Intake Behavior:

Yonah was timid during intake but allowed staff to collar, scan for a microchip and take pictures with no signs of aggression

 

 

ENRICHMENT:

10/02/17

Lying in back of kennel, body tense and eyes wide. Tolerates petting along head and body while backing away and lowering body. Eyes are squinted closed and tail is wrapped around feet. Ears are tilted. Not interested in treats at the moment. Needs more time to adjust. Sprayed feliway.

 

10/04/17

Lying in cubby, cuddled up next to siblings. Sleepy and relaxed, remains calm in kennel when pet along the head and body. Ears tilt slightly. May be too sleepy to retreat at the moment. Not interested in treats today. Sprayed feliway.

 

BEHAVIOR:

KNOWN HISTORY: Yonah’s previous owner reports he is shy around strangers for a few minutes, but he plays gently. Yonah has lived with cats of various ages and is relaxed and friendly towards them. Reaction to assessor: Yonah was resting, curled up with his siblings.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Yonah wakes and looks at the assessor, blinking sleepily.
Reaction to cage door opening: Yonah becomes alert, but remains in place.
Reaction to touch: Yonah is a bit hesitant and shifts away slowly, but he allows petting and remains in place. He warms up after a moment and begins to purr, although his ears are tilted sideways.
Reaction to being picked up: Yonah allows handling and remains calm, but will leap back into the kennel after a moment.
