U/G: male, 2 testes
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Assessment: healthy
Plan : neuter
Prognosis: good
SURGERY: Okay for surgery
08/31/17:
Pre-surgical exam, anesthesia, and surgery performed by ASPCA. Green linear tattoo placed on ventral abdomen.
Behavior::
KNOWN HISTORY:
Yira was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
Timid, allows exam
ENRICHMENT NOTES:
08/30/17
Huddled in back of kennel next to siblings. Hisses. Tolerates petting while leaning head away to avoid touch and squinting eyes closed. Body is tense and tail is wrapped around feet. Needs more time to adjust.
EVALUATION:
Cage Condition: No change
Reaction to assessor: Yira was alert and sitting up near the back of the cubby.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Yira seems curious and slowly approaches the front of the kennel.
Reaction to cage door opening: Yira lip licks and steps back.
Reaction to touch: Yira sniffs the assessor’s hand then gently rubs his body against his hand. He perks up when pet, gives head butts and appreciates attention all over.
Reaction to being picked up: Yira was a bit tense when picked up, but remained calm and allowed all handling.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow
VOCAL: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Affectionate, Sweet
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average
Yira interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
