11/23/16 18:34 Animal’s appearance – Cat appeared mostly clean and of healthy weight. Animal’s demeanor with you – Cat allowed handling. Client stated she found this cat and 7 others in a box on her front stoop. She cannot take care of these cats and does not know who dropped these cats off at her doorstep or why. She had a friend help her bring the box into his car and brought them over to SIACC asap.

Yams came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Yams allowed all handling. Reaction to assessor: Yams is sitting in the back of her cubby. Reaction when softly spoken to: Yams looks at the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Yams remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Yams leans into petting, warms up quickly. Reaction to pick up: Yams is tense, jumps out of assessor’s arms. Placement Determination: Average Yams does not approach the assessor, but appreciates petting and tolerates most handling. Yams is exhibiting behavior suited to average cat parents.
