10/28/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Winter has lived with adults and has spent time with children ages 6 and older and was playful with them. He hasn’t lived with other cats or dogs but around strangers he is friendly and he loves to rub up against them. Winter is a quiet cat and will only meow when he hears gospel music; owner stated he loves to sing along. Reaction to assessor: Winter was relaxed on his blanket with his tail at his side and he turns his head to make eye contact with the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Winter seems unsure and remains still at the back. Reaction to cage door opening: Winter remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Winter sniffs the assessor’s hand then looks around the kennel with wide eyes. His movements are slow, he keeps his tail lowered and slowly lifts his head up allowing neck rubs. He slowly relaxes, leans in when rubbed and seems to appreciate attention. His body becomes more relaxed and he feels confident at the back and doesn’t come forward. Reaction to being picked up: Winter was a bit tense when picked up, looked around then leaped back into the kennel and lip licked. Behavior Determination: Experience Winter may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
