06/06/17 14:18 Socialization Around strangers, Winter is shy for a few minutes and will go up smell and then run away or swat if you go to pet her. She has never been around children, dogs or other cats so behavior is unknown. She plays very rough with adults. She does have a bite and scratch history with a person. There is no bite history with the animal. behavior Owner stated that the only behavior issues is playing too rough. she sleps in the car. There are no litterbox issues.Owner has never triend giving a bath, trimming of nails, brushing coat. She isnt bothered with being picked up. She struggles going into the carrier. for the new family to know Owner described her as mellow, assertive, and quiet with medium acitivity level. She plays with yarn and was kep indoors only. She sleeps anywhere. She eats dry food purina. She uses a hooded litterbox with clumping litter. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish, Independent KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: adults Behavior toward strangers: shy for a few minutes and will go up smell and then run away or swat if you go to pet her Other notes: described her as mellow, assertive, and quiet with medium activity level. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 6/7/17 Hunched at back, empty cage, no bogus paper. Very stiff posture, whiskers forward. Started growling on approach. Hissed and spat when spoken to. Started hissing, spitting, and trying to swat when door opened. Likely exacerbated by loud, unhappy cat in kennel below. Sprayed feliway. 6/8/17 In den, peeking out, eyes dilated. Started deep growling when door opened. Hissed, spat, and reached out to strike assess-a-hand from inside of den. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Winter remains hiding in the cat den during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Winter becomes alert with eyes wide open, tense body, tucked limbs. Reaction to touch: Winter does not allow the touch. She began to spit followed by hissing then strikes and growls at the assessor’s hand. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Winter is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
