Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Willow Pea was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Willow Pea was curled up at the back of the kennel with his head resting on his litter box. Reaction when softly spoken to: Willow Pea turns towards the assessor then slow blinks, keeps his tail curled up at his side and doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Willow Pea remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Willow Pea lip licks, is alert and has wide eyes fixated on the assessor’s movements. His body is very tense when touched; he allows petting with a very slow approach then turns his head away when he’s had enough He continues to lip lick throughout the interaction and seems uncomfortable with contact. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Willow Pea tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
