WIDGET – A1084132
Gone - 8-19-2016 Manhattan
**GONE 08/19/16** EXTRA SPECIAL AND WONDERFUL WIDGET GETS AN UNHEARD OF THIRD CHANCE!! Just because a joint employs veterinarians, does NOT mean that dumping a cat into that joint will result in said cat getting medical help from said joint. Or, to put it another way, whoever dumped darling WIDGET into the butchery festival that is the ACC, was NOT making sure she would get medical attention trained on WHY she had been going to the bathroom outside of the litter box. No, the vets employed by the ACC have one specialty, and one specialty only…they are KILLERS, plain and simple. Thanks to someone’s selfishness, reluctance to take WIDGET to a vet, or whatever reason is behind their decision, this SWEET GIRL who was GOOD WITH A YOUNG CHILD in her past home, is going to die an AWFUL death tomorrow unless a FOSTER/ADOPTER steps up for WIDGET, tonight! MAKE THE THIRD TIME THE CHARM!! OFFER TO FOSTER OR ADOPT WIDGET TONIGHT – THERE MAY NOT BE ANOTHER CHANCE!!

08/04/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/04/16 14:09 Basic information: Widget is a 2 year old female. She was found as a stray 1 month ago. She has no known injuries or health problems and has not been to the vet. Socialization: Around strangers Widget is shy for a few minutes and gentle when she plays with adults. She’s been around a child that was 2 years old she was gentle when she played with him. Behavior: Widget has never attempted to bite a person or animal. She’s been urinated outside of her litter box daily for the past month but was not taken to the vet. She struggles if she is given a bath or if her nails are trimmed. She is friendly if her coat is brushed or if she is picked up or held. She isn’t bothered if she is, placed in a carrier or disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to Know: Widget is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, shy and quiet with a low activity level. The two things her previous owner liked most about her were; she’s good with children and loves to cuddle. When her previous owner was home she would tend to be in her favorite spot. She showed no interest in toys and was kept indoors only. At night she slept in her chair. She ate both wet Friskies and dry Purina. She is litter box trained and used an uncovered litter box and clumping cat litter. She scratched on furniture made of fabric. Behavior during intake: Widget allowed me to pet her, collar her and went into hercarrier easily. She was purring and head-butting and allowed me to take pictures.

08/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Widget is shy around strangers for a few minutes, and gentle when she plays with adults. She’s been around a child that was 2 years old she was gentle when she played with him. Reaction to assessor: Widget does not come to the front, but remains neutral. Reaction when softly spoken to: Widget does not come to the front, but remains neutral. Reaction to cage door opening: Widget remains motionless and does not respond. Reaction to touch: Widget solicits petting and attention, but lip licks and remains wary of her surroundings. Behavior Determination: Experienced Widget’s previous owners report that she was urinating outside the litter box for the past month. The previous owners report changing the litter but the inappropriate elimination behavior has continued. However, we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litter box should this behavior continue in a home environment. Widget tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may have some behavioral issues that will need to be addressed in the home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
