SAFE 4/29/17 A volunteer writes: There is a dish called Beef Wellington. However, this Wellington is far yummier! First, let’s talk about how very handsome he is. He has beautiful black and white shiny fur. When he stands up, he has the cutest white socks. His nose looks like velvet. If you are looking for company to watch t.v. Wellington is your man. Wellington has lived with other cats. He is very low key and quiet, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to be petted. Under his chin is his favorite! Don’t let the number fool you. This cat is not even middle age. Don’t forget, age makes us wiser! So if quiet, calm, and wise are what you are looking for in a forever friend, then Wellington is who you are looking for. Come meet him at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. Another volunteer writes: I’ve seen green eyes before. Sure, lots of times. But never lime green eyes like these! While I was petting him, I took a quick break to jot some notes and, when I looked up, I saw those sparkling eyes again, but this time they were unmistakably flirty. He’d rolled over on his side, and was showing me his belly with that come hither look that’s irresistible. He keeps his kennel immaculate, obviously ready to entertain company at a moment’s notice. At 7 years young, not even middle-age in cat years, he’s ready to find a real relationship and settle down (at least that’s what he told me!). You’ll never be able to resist those emerald eyes.
NEW PHOTOS – Friendly Wellington was brought to shelter for litterbox issues – cat is obese – 18.3 lbs – and has a heart murmur. May need urinary diet – please adopt!!

Wellington is friendly and outgoing towards strangers and typically likes to approach them for a good sniff. He has not spent time around children so it’s unknown how he would react but plays gently with adults and mostly enjoys getting affection. He’s lived with two other cats and was respectful of their space. When the other two cats approach Wellington, he runs away. He has never spent time around dogs so it’s unknown how he would react around them. He has never bitten another animal or human.
During car rides, Wellington meows a lot. He’s had litterbox problems ever since his owners adopted him 14 months ago. He has never used the litterbox in their car but according to the previous owner Wellington never had that issue but also never lived in a home with other cats before his owner now. His owner never gave him a bath or clipped his nails but Wellington enjoys getting a good brushing. He enjoys being held and isn’t bothered when being placed inside a carrier or when disturbed from his slumber.
Wellington is friendly, affectionate, mellow, and independent. He has a low activity level and has never really shown interest in toys. His owner loves how good looking and affectionate he is. He loves belly rubs and when his owner is home, Wellington typically hangs out in the same room or on his owner’s bed for a quick nap. He’s kept indoors only and sleeps on his owner’s chair or on their bed. He has had both uncovered and covered litterboxes and tried all types of litters but he did not go in his litterbox while in his owner’s care. He scratches on his horizontal scratching post made of cardboard. He eays Fancy Feast wet, 1/3 cup, twice a day. He always has a full bowl of Blue Buffalo dry ready for consumption.
On intake, Wellington wouldn’t come out of his carrier. Counselor gently tipped the carrier and he began to walk out. He allowed petting and collaring but kept trying to walk away from counselor. He had a soft body.
