11/25/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Walton and her orange tiger friend Findlay (A1096834) came to the Care Center in a police car. Don’t worry, they didn’t break the law–they had been left behind in a building by their previous owners. Walton was shy at first, but now that she’s been in the cat adoption room for more than a week, enjoying lots of nap time and kibble breaks, she’s having an easier time warming up to new people. Our behavior team noted this as well, saying that Walton sniffed the assessor’s hand, appreciated pettings, and even leaned in for more affection. She’s a very good young girl who is understandably coming out of her shell at her own pace. Show Walton what true love and security is all about by making her your new feline BFF today.
11/17/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Walton looks shy, crouched position on her cage bedding when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Walton remained in place, tense body posture, hissing with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Walton slowly sniffed the assessor’s hand and lip licked, but when touched she stiffened up. As she slowly warmed up, she began to appreciate the petting by leaning into the hand, but remained wary with her surroundings. Placement determination: Experience Walton tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
