***SAFE 02/24/2016*** VICTORIA NEEDS A VICTORY TONIGHT!! ….”She was found outside of an apt building and brought to ACC by police. Victoria was shaking when she arrived. She went directly to our medical staff for treatment. I visited her the following day in her kennel. She was lying down, facing the front. She immediately got up and started head butting me and kneading with her paws. She had soft body and eyes while I pet her and took her pictures”….VICTORIA was severely dehydrated when found and may be left with some neurological damage as a result (head shaking). She is also mildly anemic and may have some underlying issues. She has now started to eat on her own and will need competent vet care to get her on the path to healing…..PLEASE HELP THIS POOR GIRL WHO WAS LEFT TO DIE IN THE STREETS…APPLY TO FOSTER OR ADOPT HER NOW…..If you need assistance, email the HELPCATS@URGENTPODR.ORG

I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 02/20/2016 from NY 10473, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

02/23/2016 Exam Type RE-EXAM – Medical Rating is 4 NC – SEVERE CONDITIONS NOT CONTAGIOUS, Behavior Rating is NONE, Weight 7.6 LBS.
02/23/16 09:49 S/O: BAR, eating about 1/2 plate of wet cat food on her own, hydrated, friendly and likes attention, mild serous nasal discharge A: h/o hypernatremia/ severe DH with likely permanent neurologic damage, mild URI signs P :remove IVC today continue LRS SQ start doxy 0.8 ml PO SID x 10 days rec NH placement prognosis fair to poor (seems to be improving slightly) 02/22/16 18:47 drinking, but not eating on her own since intake. gave 0.15 cc valium IV to stimulate appetite–ate half can of friskies very well! NaCl levels normalized, slightly low Ca and TP wrapped IVC in case need to inj valium for appetite tomorrow P: pull catheter tomorrow 02/22/16 09:57 seems much brighter today. QARH, friendly and looking for attention puring on auscultation drinking water OU iris atrophy, transient anisocoria, some intention tremors remaining A: h/o hypernatremia/ severe DH with likely permanent neurologic damage P: recc rescue, recheck NaCl levels today. continue IVC at maintenance rate of 7 ml/h. added Kcl to bag(qsedto 20 meq/L) 02/21/16 16:52 auscultation wnl mentation slightly more alert, but still depressed mild dehydration. still not eating gave 0.3 cc cerenia. continue with fluids at 15 ml/hr, change to 10 overnight A: hyernatremia, severe dehydration. P: recheck lytes tomorrow 02/20/16 18:50 cbc/chem: mild anemia, non regenerative, severe hypernatremia > 180 and hyper chloridemia > 180 IV cath placed and blus 30 ml LRS given. Kept at 20 ml/hr IV. Reaction to touch: Victoria head-butts the assessor’s hand, kneads in place, and appreciates petting on the head and body. Placement determination: Average Victoria interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
