Hello, my name is Venus . My animal id is #16021. I am a desexed male white cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 8 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 13-Dec-2017, with the surrender reason stated as animal health – other.
Venus is at risk for medical reasons, being FIV+. Venus also has dental disease. Behaviorally, we have no concerns for Venus, whom we believe is suitable even for beginner cat homes.

[DVM Intake] DVM Intake Exam FIV+ ELISA Estimated age:7-8y Microchip noted on Intake? n History : o surrender. reported vomiting for a few weeks Subjective: Observed Behavior -allows exam, bar Evidence of Cruelty seen -n Evidence of Trauma seen -n Objective T = P =160 R =wnl BCS 6/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: missing many teeth, FORLS PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: neutered male MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: FIV+,vomiting reported, dental disease Prognosis:fair-FIV + cats often lead long lives. His dental disease may be related to FIV Plan:cbc/chem (recc t4–not available) dental in future FIV+ bloodwork: elevated globulins but unremarkable

Is this cat having litter box issues?: Yes
Basic Information:: Venus is a white and orange tabby that is possibly 7 years old. Venus was a gift to the owner by a friend two months ago. The owner is surrendering Venus due to the cat having possibly medical issue and allergies.
If yes, Please elaborate:: Venus is an indoor and outdoor cat. He spend most the day outside. He uses the bathroom outside and when his indoor he has accident outside the litter box. Since she has had the cat for 2 months, he has displayed litter box issues.
Previously lived with:: 3 adult 1 child
How is this cat around strangers?: When strangers come over Venus will approach and try to rub for attention. However he does not like to be picked up.
How is this cat around children?: Venus has lived with a child that is 11 years old. However he did not interact much. He kept his distance.
How is this cat around other cats?: He has never lived with other cats
How is this cat around dogs?: He has been introduced to one small dog once. However he becomes tense and hisses. He kept his distance.
Behavior Notes: Venus allows being petted. However he struggles away when trimming his nails & receiving baths. He allows to be picked up. Venus spends most of his time outside during the day and come indoors at night.
Bite history:: The cat has never had a bite history.
Energy level/descriptors:: low energy
For a New Family to Know: venue is described as aloof, independent and sometimes affectionate. Venus does not care much for cat toys and enjoys handling outside and exploring around the neighborhood. When he is indoors he likes to sleeps on the floor. He meows when his hungry and loves a diet of dry cat food.

Reaction to being picked up:: Allows the pickup and remains calm.
