KNOWN HISTORY:
Velvet was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment.
ENRICHMENT NOTES:
10/22/17
Curled up by the back with siblings, looking out with dilated eyes. Becomes stiff when door opens, but remains immobile. Hesitant of touch and lowers body, but allows gentle petting and blinks softly. May shift away to avoid additional petting, but tolerant of contact. Needs more time to adjust, but has potential to warm up.

10/23/17
Cuddled up with siblings in litter box, alert, eyes dilated. Ate a few offered treats, played energetically when given toys. Became alert when door opened. Initially fled to avoid touch, then hunched in place and tolerated pets. Brief, minor hissing when first touched. Fled to other kennel after door closed, then came slowly back, started eating more treats. Sprayed feliway.

Reaction to assessor:
Velvet remains tense, crouched position with head down on her cage bedding during the approach.
