SAFE 3/11/18—- 15-Year Old VASYA NEEDS YOU NOW – Owner Surrender, Owned For 15 Years, Lived With Another Cat! ADORABLE! Vasya is a 15 year old altered male Brow tabby and white DSh. He came to his home when he was 2 months old and is being surrendered due to the owner moving out of the country.
Adorable chunky guy Vasya was a bit overwhelmed when he first arrived at the Brooklyn Care Center, but he’s been warming up and is such a sweetheart! He purrs, kneads, and rolls around on his side to soak up the affection! He would be happiest in an experienced home where he can warm up at his own pace.

Lying in litterbox with a low, tense body, head lowered onto floor. He tolerates petting along his head and body while turning his head to watch my hand, eyes wide (whites of eyes visible). He tolerates further petting while turning his head back towards the wall. Uncomfortable, needs time to adjust.

Lying in back of kennel, body low and face tense. He turns his head to make eye contact and tolerates petting along head and body while turning back away from me. Allows touch while remaining very still, tail wrapped around body. Begins to purr softly, possibly in an attempt to self soothe. Not interested in treats at the moment. Needs more time to adjust.

Lying in back of kennel body low. He warms up once touched and allows petting along his head and body while leaning in and raising his rear and tail into the air. He continues to warm up with further petting and rolls over onto his side. Begins to knead and purr. Did great today – showing much improvement!

Lying in back of kennel with a soft face, ears forward. Makes eye contact. Allows petting along head and body while leaning in and rolling over onto his side. He rolls purrs and kneads, making eye contact with soft eyes. Allows all petting for duration of extended session. Very sweet senior boy – doing great!

Vasya was tense, wary and pressed up against the back wall of the kennel.
Reaction when softly spoken to:
Vasya lip licks and slowly turns his head away away and faces the wall.
Reaction to cage door opening:
Vasya lip licks and remains motionless.
Reaction to touch:
Vasya tenses up and lowers his head when the assessor extends his hand out. He flinches slightly when touched and remains completely immobile throughout the interaction. After a few minutes of attention he lifts his head up and leans in when rubbed on his cheeks.

Vasya is described as a friendly, Mellow and affectionate. He likes to follow the family around the home. he is feed dry and wet food of the Purina brand twice a day. Vasya is litter-box trained with an uncovered box and clumping litter.
Behavior Notes:
Upon intake Vasya is was shy he was lip licking and stayed facing the back on the carrier, he became tense when the counselor tried to pet him and moved closer to the back of the carrier.
