09/15/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Vendetta came into the care center as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home or to his previous situation. He has allowed no handling since intake, growling, hissing, and swatting when interaction is attempted. During his behavior evaluation Vendetta immediately swatted when the assessor reached for him. Reaction to assessor: Vendetta is resting at the back of his cage, facing forward. Reaction to cage door opening: Remains in place. Reaction to touch: Due to his observed behavior, a small object is used to extend toward Vendetta first. He immediately swats at the object and holds in with his nail, but makes no other movement. After a few moments the assessor is able to free the object, and the evaluation is ended. Placement determination: New Hope Only Vendetta is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has swatted and offered other warning behaviors during each attempted interaction, and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
