**SAFE 08/28/16** GORGEOUS, SPAYED, & FRIENDLY!!! A volunteer writes: Unique is the perfect name for this pillowy calico beauty, a beautiful quilt of white, orange, black, and gray who scored an A+ on her behavior exam. Unique comes to us from a home, and her former owner said that while she can be shy with strangers, it doesn’t take her long to warm up and then treat her new aquaintances with gentle body rubs. Unique was respectful of the newborn baby in her previous household and played gently with the other children as well as a male cat in the home. This ball of sweetness has a quiet, ethereal presence, and the best thing ever for her is scoring a belly rub. Treat her to one yourself by coming up to 110th Street today!

08/06/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/06/16 14:17 Basic Information Unique was bought to the ACC because previous owner was no longer allowed to keep pets in their apartment. She is about seven years old and spent her entire life with her previous owner. Socialization Unique is shy at first around strangers, but after they are in the house for a little while she will come outside and rub on them. She has lived with newborn babies up to nine year old children. She is respectful of babies and will play with older children gently. If the children get too rough for her, she will run away and hide. She is gentle with adults and likes them to rub her belly. She lived with a male cat for about a year and was playful with him. She would sometimes get a little rough with him, but was much younger (about 1 year old) at that time. She is playful with small dogs and is a little rough with them. As a young kitten she was around rabbits and would sniff them and walk away, but she has not been around rabbits in years. Behavior Previous owner did not note any behavior issues with Unique. In the car, she meows a lot. She uses a scratching post only, and clumping litter. When she was younger she would tolerate baths but previous owner did not attempt a bath in a few years. Unique loves to be picked up, held, and carried around the house (although she is a little heavy for this right now!). She is easy to get into a carrier. For a New Family to Know Unique was described as friendly, affectionate, independent, playful, and shy. She has a medium activity level. At home, she likes to be held and hang out in her favorite dark spot or in the window. She is used to using a hooded litter box with clumping litter, and always uses a scratching post. At the ACC Unique was shy to get out of her carrier, but allowed counselors to pick her up and take her out. She allowed for collaring and pictures, but attempted to jump off the tables a few times. She displayed signs of nervousness such as licking her nose and putting her tail between her legs. After a few minutes of being pet, she began to purr. She allowed counselor to pick her back up and put her in her carrier. She was not interested in treats or food.
