*** SAFE 10/26/16 *** LITTLE DISABLED SWEETIE IS BEGINNER RATED!!…..TUXY is 10 weeks old and appears to have a congenital weakness (spinal deformity) which causes hind end lameness. But she doesn’t let it get her down….she moves around with her own style!! It’s horrible to imagine this little tuxy tyke out on her own….she came in with live fleas and some lice eggs as well as the disability. She’s also underweight. TUXY IS AN INSPIRATION…..she shouldn’t be on a kill list tonight!! TUXY is publicly adoptable or can be reserved through a rescue. I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 10/21/2016 from NY 11420, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

10/24/16 Recheck URI, lameness, overall condition. O: BARH. mm=lt pink, moist, CRT<2 s. Eating/drinking well. EENT: Mild sneezing, nasal discharge. H/L: Lungs clear. ABD: Palpation WNL. MS: Spinal deformity from approx. T5 to L1: spine is S-shaped. No pain on palpation. Decreased muscle mass both hind limbs, amb x 4 with mild hind limb weakness. NEURO: Placing, hopping, wheelbarrowing all normal fore and hind limbs, although slower in hind. No CP deficits, + withdrawal and nociception all 4 limbs. A: Spinal deformity – likely congenital. Hind limb paresis due to deformity, but not causing disability. Stable URI. P: Continue current therapy for URI. No treatment indicated for spinal problems. Excellent prognosis. 10/22/16 QAR. Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Tuxy was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She was vocal upon intake, but remained relaxed as the assessor lifted her from her carrier. She was also easy to handle during her initial medical exam. Reaction to assessor: Tuxy was calm, relaxed, and friendly upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Tuxy looks at the assessor with soft eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Tuxy remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Tuxy head-butts lightly, leans in for petting, and begins to purr. Reaction to pick up: Tuxy remains soft and continues to purr when held. Behavior Determination: Beginner Tuxy interacts with the observer, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
