Tuna is a 16 year old domestic shorthair. He was adopted from the ACC and his owner has had him for 15 years. He has no known injuries or health problems.
Around strangers, Tuna is fearful, choosing to hide and completely avoid people when they come over to his home. He is okay around people like family that he sees on a regular basis. He has lived with an 8 year old child and was relaxed and affectionate towards him. He plays gently with both adults and children though the owner states nowadays he prefers to sleep. He has not spent anytime with other cats. Tuna lived previously with two puppies, a shih tzu and a poodle. He was very fearful and ran to hide whenever he saw them. He would only try to swat when he was cornered. He has not bitten another animal or person.
He has been known to hide from people and dogs. During car rides, he will meow nonstop as he is not use to riding in cars. He has no known litterbox issues. He does not enjoy having his nails trimmed or bathed. His owner would wipe him down with a moist towel to help with shedding. He does not like to be held for too long, prefering pets on his head while he sits near you. He is not bothered by being woken up. He struggled going in and out of a carrier.
Tuna is described as a shy and quiet cat. His activity level is low; he spends his day sunbathing and watching birds outside. He is also described as a great mouser. When his owner arrives home, he is often at the window. He was kept indoors only and with age, has lost interest with toys though he did enjoy catnip toys. He was given 9 Lives Indoor formula morning and night; he does not like wet food. He does not like to eat treats. He is use to having an automatic litterbox with pellets. He loves to use his horizontal scratching pads with catnip sprnkled on it.
