***SAFE 03/01/16***Springtime isn’t so far away and TULIP is full of hope that he’ll have a home soon! TULIP is a 3 year old black cat who isn’t too happy at the shelter. He was found as a stray and his life is on the line tonight because he’s on the shelter’s death row list. TULIP is a sensitive guy, who is very scared at the shelter and desperately needs some time and TLC from experienced pet owners who can treat him like the little king he is. If you’d like to foster this scared sweetie, please contact New Hope Rescue and you can be TULIP’s life-saver. Don’t let this little guy die a heartbreakingly lonely death! TULIP is hoping for your help today!!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Tulip and at the time he was curled up in the litter box. He hissed and flinched when first touched. Tulip allowed petting with a very tense body. Reaction to assessor: Tulip does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: Tulip does not come to front but remains neutral Reaction to door cage opening: Tulip becomes stiff and alert Reaction to touch: Tulip hisses, strikes and does not allows petting at all Try picking cat up: Did not attempt to pick the cat up due to fractious behavior Behavior Determination: NewHope Tulip seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment Tulip was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. Tulip may require further investigation before placement in a home. Tulip is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
