Cage Condition: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor: Tommy was lying down inside his litter box and had a low body posture.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Tommy lowers his head slightly and blinks softly, half hidden behind his litter box.
Reaction to cage door opening: Tommy slowly sits up and looks around with wide eyes.
Reaction to touch: Tommy shifts away to avoid contact, but will sniff the assessor’s hand when placed slowly in front of him. He warms up fairly quickly and will lean in, head-butt lightly, and roll over. When petting stops, he curls up and wraps his tail against his body.
Reaction to being picked up: Tommy is tense during pick up, but remains calm when held.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow

RECOMMENDATIONS:
– Experienced cat parent – Tommy interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, and tolerates all petting, but he may be fearful or stressed in the shelter environment. He may also need time to warm up to his new home and family. We recommend this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.

BASIC INFORMATION: Tommy is an orange tabby DSH neutered male cat. Tommy was given to the owner 1yr ago and has no known health issues. Tommy was brought into ACC due to owners severe allergies.
SOCIALIZATION: Tommy is friendly and social with strangers and adults. Tommy has been exposed to children ages4-5 and gets along well with children. Tommy plays gently with the adults & children in the home, he loves attention and affection. Tommy has not bitten or scratched another person or animal within the past 10 days and does not have a bite history.
BEHAVIOR: Tommy has been bathed and will give some trouble by attempting to flee. Tommy allows the owner to brush his coat and pick him up. Tommy is unbothered when disturbed while sleeping.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: Tommy is best described as a friendly affectionate and playful cat. His activity level is medium-high and loves to sunbathe, play with cat toys and play with his owner. Tommy has been kept indoors only and sleeps anywhere in the home. Tommy enjoys eating wet food from brand Fancy Feast 2X per day. Tommy also enjoys eating treats from brand Temptations. Tommy is litter box trained and uses an open litter box with clumping litter. Tommy occasionally scratched on a couch made of fabric and may need a scratching post.
BEHAVIOR UPON INTAKE: Upon intake, Tommy displayed a relaxed body, Tommy tolerated all handling and scanned negative. Left-ear tipped.
