Toby is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats. this cat is good for a beginner home.

Vomited 1x in cage – hair with some metallic pieces Observed Behavior -Easy to handle, friendly. Evidence of Cruelty seen -n Evidence of Trauma seen -n Objective T = P = 200 R = eup BCS= 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: NSF, no ulcers, no f.b. PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated, soft U/G: male 2 testicles MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat except for few scratches on nose CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Assessment Mild dehydration Vomiting- r/o dietary indiscretion vs GI inflam Prognosis: Fair to good Plan: SQF 100 cc. Cerenia 3.6 mg. Abd xrays – small amt metallic fb in colon with moderate stool, otherwise intestines WNL, other organs NSF. SURGERY: Okay for surgery if recheck tmrw.
Progress exam-vomiting/new URI History : stray from backyard-intake 11/20. Was vomiting metallic pieces and hair in cage. Given cerenia, SQ LRS, and AXR. 11/20: Abd xrays – small amt metallic fb in colon with moderate stool, otherwise intestines WNL, other organs NSF. Subjective: BAR, ~5% dehydrated but eating well. No csvd and normal bm and u in litter box. Has mild congestion-early URI. Objective P = wnl R = eup BCS= 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: clean adult dentition PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs have mildly increased BV sounds and audible upper resp congestion ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated, soft U/G: MI MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: URI Mild dehydration Hx Vomiting- r/o dietary indiscretion vs GI inflam-resolved Prognosis: Fair to good Plan: Move to iso Give one dose LRS SQ 100ml Start doxycycline 10mg/kg PO SID x10d until 12/1 Recheck day 7

Toby was calm and friendly during intake and enjoyed being pet and held. Toby allowed staff to collar, scan for a microchip and take pictures with no signs of aggression.

KNOWN HISTORY:: was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his/her behavior in his/her previous home.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Easy to handle, friendly
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 11/20/17 Sitting in back of kennel with ears forward and feet folded beneath him. He allows petting along his head and body while turning to sniff my hand and leaning I gently. Shifts his weight and licks his lips. A big conflicted and unsure after the first day. Need some time to adjust.
Cage Condition:: Cage is recently cleaned
Reaction to assessor:: Toby was relaxed and eating his food near the front of the kennel.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Toby comes forward to greet the assessor, then gently rubs her cheeks against the cage door.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Toby remains calm and relaxed.
Reaction to touch:: Toby perks up when pet along his body and gives the assessor gentle head butts. He’s very affectionate, purrs and allows petting all over.
Reaction to being picked up:: Toby was a bit tense when picked up, but her remains calm and allows all handling.
