Just another pretty kitten would you say…..So graceful though and making sure that you know she is a cat with her long ebony tail drawing a C on her white body. Come closer and you will see beauty….Dark eyes resting on baby blue saucers…. How unique….Tippy is a baby cat found with her mom and sister by a good samaritan who could not keep them but told us that she was very friendly and playful. Here, at the care center, Tippy is a bit wary. She retreats to the back of her den when I open her door. I scratch the floor gently and offer a treat…She shows interest and moves forward which allows me to pet her. A little taken aback at first, she accepts….and even takes the kibble. Paris was not made in one day..I will need a few tries to get her into my arms. A home and a master would do a better and faster job of course. So, why do not you give it a try ? Come and meet our princess here at the Manhattan Care Center and take her home as your forever best friend.

Behavior
Tippy was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. The finder found her with her mother and sister. They kept her in their home until she was able to manage on her own without her mom. They stated she enjoys playing with her sister, chasing a ball around, and using a scratching board. She was very well behaved during her short stay in the finder’s home. She was very friendly upon intake, and allowed all handling. She was also easy to handle during her initial medical exam.
Reaction to assessor: Tippy looks at the assessor, but becomes jumpy with loud or sudden noise. She appears wary of the environment.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Tippy meows softly and lip licks.
Reaction to cage door opening: Tippy crouches over and lowers her body. She attempt to retreat into her cubby.
Reaction to touch: Tippy was hesitant at first and meows again, but she remains in place and allows petting. She begins to warm up, leans into petting, starts to purr, and closes her eyes.
Reaction to being picked up: Tippy remains soft and purrs when held.
Behavior Determination: Experience
Tippy tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
