08/22/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Thomas and at the time he was inside the cat den. Thomas becomes alert when extend hand and tries to avoid contact. Thomas allows gentle touch, but tries to hide. Thomas is very tense throughout interaction and seems wary of the environment. Reaction to assessor: Thomas was hiding in the cat den when I approached When spoken quietly: Thomas stays inside the cat den Reaction to door cage opening: Thomas remains motionless Reaction to touch: Thomas is tense but allows petting with a slow approach Try picking cat up: Thomas is tolerant of this type of handling but tense. Behavior Determination: Experience Thomas was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment he was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Remains motionless as I started to get closer. I was able to pet him and interact with him. I was also able to pick him up and although he was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
