He has the sweetest purrsonality and he has a great appetite….The ACC throws out all kinds of medical possibilities but THESTRAL needs help not possibilities. His ear mass may or may not be cancerous. If he is hyperthyroid it can be treated. I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 10/15/2016 from NY 10460, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

Large 3 cm iregular multi-lobulated ulcerated mass with discharge inside L ear A) Mass – r/o carcinoma (SCC) vs sarcoma(hemangio or other) P) Recom EHR if rescue not available. AD: moderate dark discharge H/L: purring, but eupneic, no m/a LN: NSF ABN: SNP UROGEN: MC M/S: amb x4, BCS 3/5, no flea dirt A: AS ear mass, AD: suspected ear mites palpable thyroid nodule P:cleaned face with chlorhexidine, unable to completely remove all dried blood cleaned AD with ear cleaner e collar to prevent scratching ear mass applied revolution for cats 5-15 lbs for ear mites and flea control, will repeat 2 more times every 2 weeks amoxi-clav 45.7mg/ml: 1.0ml PO BID x7 tresaderm 3 drops AD BID x14 for ear mites buprenorphine for pain associated with mass 0.15ml at side of cheek BID x4 rec incisional bx to check if benign or malignant mass, depending on that, and whether has tendency to metastasize, could consider TECA surgery with board certified surgeon. Prior rec 3v met check. Also rec cbc/chem/t4/ua/fecal OPG- p has thyroid nodule, to r/o hyperthyroidism and as general health screen.

10/17/16 12:56 Thestral allowed counselor to pick him up and place him in a new carrier. He was brought directly back to medical so counselor did not collar or have further interaction with the cat. Client stated that when she found Thestral outside, he allowed her to pick him up and put him in a carrier.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Thestral was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. His finder reports he allowed them to pick him up and place him into a carrier. He also allowed the counselor to pick him up and place him inside another carrier upon intake. He was reported to be very friendly, docile, and sweet during his initial medical exam, allowing the medical staff to conduct all handling. Reaction to assessor: Thestral was lying down, calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Thestral looks at the assessor with soft eyes and starts to knead. Reaction to cage door opening: Thestral remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Thestral was slightly hesitant initially, but he leans in for petting and arches his back. He gets up and continues to knead while standing up and purrs loudly. Reaction to being picked up: Thestral remains calm and allows handling. Behavior Determination: Average Thestral interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
