TEAL – A1078165
Safe - 6-29-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
***SAFE 06/29/16*** PERFECTLY HEALTHY TEAL WANTS TO BE YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND BUT THE ACC WILL CUT HER CHANCES OFF SATURDAY WITHOUT RESCUE!! TEAL is a year and a half old and she was trapped and dumped as a stray. This little gray tabby girl certainly did not imagine that she would be looking death right in the eyes at her young age. TEAL is “not thriving in the shelter” according to the ACC but frankly, what cat thrives in such an environment? TEAL needs a place to decompress and adjust and a committed cat loving purrson to give her that chance to live. TEAL was punished with a New Hope rating because of her fear but we know that the rating is only measuring the behavior of the cat INSIDE the shelter and not how she will act in a loving home. TEAL wants to live and have someone love her and give her a home. IF THAT PURRSON IS YOU, PLEASE HURRY AND CONTACT A RESCUE NOW TO PULL HER TO SAFETY! IF YOU NEED RESCUE INFO, EMAIL [email protected] NOW!!

06/23/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Teal was hiding when I approached the cage When spoken quietly: Teal continues to hide in the cat den Reaction to door cage opening: Teal watches the assessor through the hole in the cat den Reaction to touch: Teal hisses, strikes and does not allows petting at all Try picking cat up: Did not attempt Behavior Determination: NewHope Teal was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. She seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment Teal was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
